Welcome

Hello! Thanks for visiting my website to see my watercolor animal portraits. My name is Cherilynn Wood and I am a Chicago based watercolor artist. I have been painting in watercolor for over twenty years. I fell in love with the medium in high school and have been painting ever since.

It has only been in the last ten years that painting pet portraits has becomes my main focus. I love depicting the character and personality of the pets. It all began when my parent’s dog, a lab, chow mix named Kuma passed on and I was searching for a way to bring them some comfort as well as give them a daily reminder of the bond they shared. I drew them a portrait of Kuma with his big smiley face and the always cheerful, ready to play expression he had. This portrait hangs in their home and is a treasure to this day.

A pet portrait is a great way to celebrate the very special relationship that we have with our pets. Each one is so uniquely different, with their own character, personality and markings; it is very important to me to depict that with celebration.

Please take a moment to browse around my website, and see my watercolor work. My Gallery page is filled with some of my latest animal portraits. My Blog is also included in the site which has many sketches as well as updates on my current activities.

If you are interested in having your pet’s portrait painted in watercolor, details are on my Pet Portrait page. I would love to create a custom original watercolor pet portrait for you!

I am very passionate about our homeless pet population and want to do my part to help the cause so that every pet can find a loving home and we as care-takers of these creatures learn how to be properly responsible for their care. I give 10% of my commissioned sales to rescue groups helping these precious little ones.
So for the months of May through September 2012, Be Fido’s Friend will get this donation money. Commission a portrait of your loved pet and they will receive funds to help other dogs, like yours, find loving homes.
